A contemporary resource supporting Indigenous perspectives

The ACTF has produced a DVD-ROM resource for teachers and students (Years 5-9) wishing to use Double Trouble in the classroom.

...The Double Trouble DVD-ROM is rich in content that examines identity, relationships, belonging, ancestry, stereotypes, adolescence, growth and development. The DVD-ROM replicates the content of the Double Trouble interactive website developed by the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) and makes it available to all teachers, in all states
and territories.

The 13 part series, Double Trouble (CAAMA Productions), is about two 16 year olds; Yuma, who lives with her wealthy father and step family in Sydney, and Kyanna, who lives in a community in the central Australian desert with her mother and extended family. Separated at birth, these twin girls are completely unaware that the other exists, until a twist of fate sees them bump into each other in Alice Springs.

NSW DET used the series as the basis for a secondary Connected Outcomes Group (COG) program for Stage 4 (Years 7 and 8). The DVD-ROM and web resource features teaching and learning activities in English, The Arts, Personal Development and  Health and Physical Education. Other sections of the resource include film-making/cineliteracy, Aboriginal education and values education.

There are 45 digital video clips, aligned teaching and learning activities, series stills, character profiles, production crew interviews and aligned resources. The interactive activities are housed under the themes/topics Me, My Family, My Place, My World and My Vision.
